Harness Race Day Checklist

Apply WATER to track and GROOM/ROLL as required. *

Apply sufficient WATER so track remains damp for the entire meeting. *

Hitch tractor to horse AMBULANCE. Check Ambulance tires. *

Check track lighting at least 1½ hours prior to first race along with ensuring the generator is operating. If daylight savings, please turn off lights once fully checked. *

Turn on SEMAPHORE board, open WINNING post and ensure TIMING beams are aligned and functioning. *

SOUTH ONLY - Turn on SEMAPHORE board, Switch on BLACK BOARD. *

SOUTH ONLY - LOWER greyhound track fence. *

Check DAYSTALLS for any WH&S problems and rectify. Turn on monitors. Put up STALL DIRECTORIES and turn on daystall lights. *

Check urinating boxes have sufficient straw & wash bays sufficient gas. *

SOUTH ONLY - Unlock entrance gates and vets room. *

Prep track for racing – Drag, Water & Condition. *

Complete Pre-Start checks for all vehicles/tractors. *

Set up STANDING START tapes. *

Pick up STONES. *

Attach tractor to the CONDITIONER. *

Load Canter/Ute with: sulky, spare wheel, toolbox and pump. *

Ensure daystall boom gate is unlocked and functioning. *

Check that CROSSING and track ENTRANCE are safe. *

Shut all track gates. *

Check for WASH OUTS & repair (Wet Days). *

Check Mobile barrier is fully operational. *

SOUTH ONLY - Close off greyhound starting boxes. *
