Race day - Checklist - Greyhound

Time *
Check kennels are clean, tidy and everything is of the required standard & WHS compliant. *
Ensure outside area of kennel building is clean, tidy and WHS compliant. *
Check ALL starting boxes are: functioning properly, clean & tidy with dog handling areas WH&S compliant. *
Check matting in front of boxes is of the required consistency. *
Check trip start at each starting position is operating correctly. *
Check every sprinkler is operating efficiently. *

Check and install lure.

Check lure carriage *
Check arm squeaker and lures *
Check carriage motor *
Check carriage nylon wheels *
Check drive wheel *
Check battery and controller *
Check all rail is safe *
Test run 6 laps minimum (to be carried out both morning & afternoon for night meetings) *
Turn on semaphore board and check alignment of all timing beams. Ensure timing system is functioning correctly. *
Open winning post and turn winning post lights on. *
Turn track lighting on 2 hours prior to first race and check all lights are operational (For faults call CONTACT GROUP 6231 0944 ASAP). *
Check track surface and moisture content is at the standard required by the stewards and ready for track inspection. *
Check the tractor is in maintained condition, clean and fully fuelled. *
Check trip start at each starting position is operating correctly. *
Turn on CCTV monitor in main room. Ensure CCTV is operational. *
Check operation and condition of: a) Catching Pen Gate and b) Run Back Gate. *
Test all trip starts are operational under race conditions (with lure). *
Ensure catching pen SHACKLE PIN is tightened before operation. During excessively windy conditions check during race meeting. *
Check Dog Ambulance *
HOBART ONLY - Check spare lures are in operating condition and available to the HGRC driver. *
HOBART ONLY - Check Undercroft/Raceday Office area – pick up rubbish, blower, etc *
